Seems like success in the NBA playoffs depends on whose players are the least injured. Boston loses without Tatum. Toronto loses without Ingram, Denver loses without Aaron Gordon. Orlando without Fritz Wagner. Houston without Durant (and Fred Van Vleet). The Lakers without Luka… And now OKC without Jaylen Williams, their second-best player, and Ajay Mitchell, whose greatness had just been on display… I was rooting for the Spurs, but know that they beat a weakened team. If Ajay Mitchell was playing and d’Aaron Fox wasn’t, the outcome almost certainly have been different, despite the greatness of Wembenyama.
Basketball has always been my drug of choice. The Spurs-Thunder series was primo. Marred only by occasional glimpses of PJ Carlesimo behind the scorer’s table, doing “color” for some TV network.
