This notice of a meeting was sent by Hannah Nelson, who comments, “They already conducted one of these (for MCRSA) a year ago and determined there was no need to create separate rules from existing rules (that apply to all and specialized but similar industries). Nonetheless, it will be important for people to show up and make comments (not just ask questions, since they won’t answer but are looking for input). We boldfaced our favorite governmental concern.

Subject: Cannabis Industry Advisory Meeting –

To all interested parties, please mark your calendars for the upcoming

As required by Labor Code section 147.6, Cal/OSHA will convene an advisory committee on January 31, 2018, to evaluate whether there is a need to develop industry specific regulations related to the activities of licensees under Division 10 (commencing with Section 26000) of the Business and Professions (B&P) Code. The meeting will consider, but not be limited to, whether specific requirements are needed to address exposure to second-hand marijuana smoke by employees at facilities where on-site consumption of marijuana is permitted under B&P Code section 26200(d), and whether specific requirements are needed to address the potential risks of combustion, inhalation, armed robberies, or repetitive strain injuries.

At this advisory committee meeting stakeholders and the public are invited to provide input on the unique health and safety issues associated with working in the cultivation, manufacturing, distribution and sale of medicinal and adult-use marijuana. An agenda for the meeting and related handouts will be posted on our website at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/doshreg/Medical-Marijuana/ <http://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/doshreg/Medical-Marijuana/> prior to the meeting date.
