The Society of Cannabis Clinicians has developed a ‘Decision Tree’ for physicians treating neuropathic pain patients, co-authored by Stephen Robinson, MD, and Sherry Yafai, MD.

Dr. Robinson has forwarded the SCC document to the Medical Board of California with a letter noting that the board’s  “Guidelines for the Recommendation of Cannabis for Medical Purposes” include a Decision Tree (as Appendix 1) that “does not accurately reflect the board’s policy as stated in the narrative guidelines, page 4, ‘A patient need not have failed on all standard medications in order for a physician to recommend or approve the use of cannabis for medical purposes.'”

The SCC Decision Tree, Robinson states, is “consistent with the established policies of the MBC’s adopted Guidelines.” His letter requests “your considered acceptance of our revision.”
