The late Randy Shilts wrote a great book about the AIDS epidemic, And the Band Played On. The other day I scored the sheet music at a garage sale (50 cents). Although I knew the famous first line of the chorus, I was surprised to read the rest of the lyric:

Casey would waltz with the Strawberry Blond
and the Band played on.
He’d glide cross the floor with the girl he ador’d
and the Band played on
But his head was so loaded it nearly exploded
The poor girl would shake with alarm
He’d never leave the girl with the strawberry curls
and the Band played on.

“Loaded?”
